About PMA
PMA History
With a team of more than sixty dedicated physicians, Premier Medical Associates is the largest independent multi-specialty physician practice in the Greater Pittsburgh area. The company is focused on being a leader in the delivery of efficient, high quality care which drives down healthcare costs and improves patient outcomes. Founded in 1993, Premier's leadership team led a transition that made the company independent in 2004. Premier's independence allowed the company to focus on building a stronger model of patient-centered care and expand operations to include critical services and specialties that provide a continuum of care to PMA's patients.

The company is focused on being a leader in the delivery of efficient, high quality care that drives down healthcare costs and improves the lives of our patients. The goal? Enhanced care for patients who lead healthier lives, and reduced costs and savings for the health care system.
The company has been recognized for providing a continuum of high quality care coupled with tremendous efficiency, and is one of only 11 practices in Pennsylvania that has been selected to run a pilot for a national medical home model. The company has also taken a lead in establishing electronic records for their patients. This registry allows doctors to track patients with chronic health problems more closely, and stay in touch with them to make sure their prescriptions are being filled and their needs are being met, which helps avoid unnecessary hospital stays.
In 2007, Premier was selected by the Pittsburgh Regional Health Initiative (PRHI) to participate in a pilot program focused on chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) as a leading preventable cause of hospital readmissions in western Pennsylvania. The goal was to engage hospitals in a coordinated network of chronic disease care. After two years, the project yielded impressive results as Premier saw low hospital readmission rates. Based on these results, the hospitals involved adopted the pilot practices permanently, helping to create better care for people with this disease while avoiding unnecessary readmissions at hospitals throughout the region.
Premier's leadership team includes physicians with a firm commitment to a standard of success that is measured by the overall well being of a patient, rather than the number of procedures performed.
With headquarters in Monroeville, Pennsylvania, Premier Medical Associates maintains 300 employees and is proud of its strong staff tenure. The people at Premier bring integrity, a strong work ethic and a commitment to the communities they serve that involves volunteer work and partnerships with diverse community organizations in our region.
