Peter S. Naman, MD

"I decided that I wanted to be a Surgeon when I was in the 8th grade. I was fascinated by the opportunity of viewing the “secrets” of the inside of a living creature while dissecting a frog during Biology class. Up to that point, the only thing I ever wanted to be was an airline pilot.

I chose to specialize in Surgery because I particularly liked the fact that in Surgery, the doctor is able to help a sick person and achieve a result quickly. They roll into the OR with their problem and they roll out without it……most of the time at least. I am especially interested in the field of breast diseases and, in particular, breast cancer.

Outside of my surgical practice as the Vice-Chair of Surgery, I am intimately involved in the administrative affairs of West Penn Hospital, especially the running of the Operating Room and supporting our Surgeons at the Forbes Campus.

I enjoy flying and spend free time with my family and flying around the tri-state area in my club’s airplanes."
