In some situations, the diagnoses, treatment and management of serious infections and diseases require the attention of an infectious disease specialist.Our infectious disease team of physicians work alongside our hospitalist at Forbes Hospital to treat specific infectious disease states that pose a serious health risk for the patient and may or may not be contagious. They also provide insight and support when treatment challenges arise particularly when antibiotics are being used.

A variety of systemic health conditions may affect the eyes, and a number of ocular conditions may affect overall health. Therefore, we felt it important to incorporate eye care into our comprehensive health care model.Our ophthalmologist, Dr. Baker, performs surgical procedures in Monroeville and Homestead in addition to providing comprehensive eye care in our Forest Hills office.
Caring for infants, children and adolescents, in addition to providing timely health education and information to parents and guardians, is the focus of Premier’s Pediatric Division.Our Pediatricians have tremendous experience and expertise in the acute, chronic and preventative health needs of children. Our division works as a collaborative team. Their collective knowledge and experience enables the entire team to provide the highest standard of care for our young patients.
Our podiatric services cover both medical and surgical needs in the treatment of conditions involving the feet, ankles and lower legs. We offer a conservative approach to treatment, offering surgery only when necessary.For chronic health conditions affecting the feet (such as diabetes), patients can rely on their Premier primary care team to work with our podiatrist when necessary to manage their health.
Our patients now have access to respiratory medicine from Premier specialists located in our offices and on-site at Forbes Hospital.For respiratory conditions (such as pneumonia, tuberculosis, emphysema) that require focused treatment and management, our Pulmonology specialists are conveniently located in One Monroeville Center and at AHN West Penn Hospital. They offer common on-site testing such as pulmonary stress test, pulmonary function test and bronchoscopy.
Premier patients benefit from this in-house capability. This service offers more efficient access to tests results via the electronic health records and the collaboration between the radiologist and the doctor ordering the study. We have a dedicated, onsite radiologist to interpret tests in a more timely fashion and provide consultations when necessary.
Patients having arthritis or experiencing other rheumatic problems can now have specialized care at Premier. Rheumatic diseases and conditions can be very complex; patients benefit from seeing a specialist. Rheumatologists can be in scarce supply in many areas. Often people struggle to get appointments – until now.
Patients experiencing many common sleeping and snoring problems can discuss having a sleep study with their primary care provider.Our sleep laboratory is located conveniently in the One Monroeville Center. Studies are performed six nights a week.
